The MEDC is responsible for recruiting new industries to Macon/Bibb County, as well as assisting those companies within the region with expansion projects. Established as the single point of contact for business and economic development in Macon and Bibb County, the MEDC serves those companies looking for sites and facilities in this area of Middle Georgia (USA), providing convenient, efficient, and cost-effective coordination and liaison services with local and state governments and agencies involved in economic development and the site location/relocation process.
The MEDC team can assist you with all of your site location needs and requirements, from providing relocation assistance, as well as data, information, and insights on available sites, available buildings and facilities, incentive structure, demograhpic profiles, wage and salary surveys, workforce availability and training, general contractors, and infrastructure assistance and highlights -- such as available water and sewer capacity provided by the award-winning Macon Water Authority.
The MWA supports the MEDC by helping to annually fund its economic development activities, programs, and marketing efforts. In addition, the MWA invests more than $700,000 annually into a revolving fund that is used for land purchases and preparations of "ready to go" industrial sites for potential companies and their operations.
