Maintenance Manager


Job Summary:  Manages the centralized maintenance function to include managerial duties in the operation and maintenance, repair, modification and installation of equipment, fixtures, pumps, and electrical devices throughout the Authority’s utility system including its treatment plants, water distribution and sewer collection systems per federal and state laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for development, implementation, reviewing and making recommendations for the continued improvement of the Asset Reliability Model (ARM) Program.

  • Develops Reliability Plan.  Helps identify the appropriate goals and objectives.

  • Ensures that required foreman, support is provided to carry out the Weekly, Daily, and Down-Day Schedules

  • Reports maintenance monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

  • Facilitates Centralized Maintenance Team activities/PPM optimization

  • Ensures adequate Foreman training in the following areas: Reliability Model, use of the CMMS, failure investigation and reporting, performance reviews and counseling, employee discipline, and general communication and Foreman skills.

  • Participates in the process of turning over of projects from engineering to maintenance to ensure continued adherence to standards and this model

  • Monitors and assess the quality, timeliness, and safety of job executions 

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining a Reliability Focused Maintenance program utilizing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).  This program will comply with ARM requirements and be installed to Best in Class standards.
  • Reviews the Shutdown Day statistics compiled by the Maintenance Planner and acts accordingly. 

  • Responsible for following all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding Purchasing and Bidding of equipment and services.

  • Oversees a variety of maintenance activities for collection system and distribution system components, including tanks, pump stations, water main PRV’s, and lift stations.
  • Oversees a variety of maintenance activities for treatment plant components, including surface water treatment processes and activated sludge wastewater treatment processes.

  •  SCADA and Instrumentation duties include; planning, design, and maintenance activities.


  • Engineering Degree or Technical degree with 3-5 years Maintenance Manger experience preferred.  Additional experience may be used in lieu of a degree.Knowledge of water and wastewater system operations preferred.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of plant equipment, operations, maintenance, motors, pumps, electrical and instrumentation as well as budgeting and cost performance.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communications skills with persons at all levels internal and external to the MWA organization.
  • Must be capable of using company standard MS-Office software, including MS-Project.  Familiarity with maintenance management software preferred.  Knowledge of CityWorks software a plus. Must have the ability to adapt to new EAM software as necessary.
  • Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot complex problems and lead teams in RCFA and FMEA to improve operational reliability.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Valid GA driver’s license with clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking.
  • Ability to carry 25 pounds up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, stooping and occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.


Salary: $60,088 - 90,132
