So what do you know about H2O? The Macon Water Authority (MWA) hopes you find out during an Open House at its Frank C. Amerson, Jr. Water Treatment Plant on Thursday May 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The MWA Open House at the Amerson Plant, located at 703 Riverbend Drive, is being held during national Drinking Water Week, which is an industry celebration recognized each year during the first full week in May.

During the Amerson Plant Open House on May 8, guests will be able to take a tour of the plant and take home educational materials about the value of tap water and how the Authority produces clean, safe drinking water at this facility every day. Admission is free to the Open House and refreshments will be provided.

MWA tap water was judged the Best Tasting Drinking Water in North America, during an independent “Best of the Best” taste test of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) in 2009.

For more than 35 years, the AWWA and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week as a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

For more information on the Open House at the MWA Amerson Plant on May 8, citizens can contact the Authority staff at 478-464-5650, or log onto our website at www.maconwater.org. Or, for a complete overview of national Drinking Water Week, they can check out the AWWA Web site at www.awwa.org/resources-tools/public-affairs/public-affairs-events/drinking-water-week.aspx.
