Beyond the Tap: MWA Employee Service
Nov 20, 2020 by Chris Wood, Ph.D.

The MWA Finance Department includes (front to back) Margarita Gomes, Arleen Samuels and Doricale Smith, as well as others. For 23 years in a row, they've helped the MWA receive the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The success of the MWA’s Mission — to provide quality water and sewer services for the enhancement of the quality of life and economic well-being of customers and communities — lies in the hands of 230 employees.
These water professionals work to provide you with the cleanest and safest drinking water and wastewater treatment possible. For that reason, we’d like to highlight MWA employees who work “Beyond the Tap,” even during a pandemic, in roles that are critical to the safe delivery of essential water and sewer services. They may be out of sight working behind the scenes, but they’re no less critical to the success of the MWA.
Our first “Beyond the Tap” MWA profile recognizes the employees working in our award-winning Finance Department.
The MWA recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 23rd consecutive year. This is a remarkable accomplishment for the employees in the Finance Department, who personify the Authority’s mission to serve its customers and community with transparency and according to the highest standards of professionalism.
