MBCIA Names Stephen Adams Executive Director

Stephen Adams is the recently named Executive Director of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, after having served previously as Acting Director.

It’s official. The “interim” tag has been lifted, and Stephen Adams has been named Executive Director of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA), who is approaching 10 years of service on staff for this economic development and recruiting arm of Macon-Bibb County.

Adams joined the Industrial Authority in 2009 as a Project Manager. Since that time, he also served as Director of Operations, Economic Development Director, and most recently as Acting Executive Director.

As the Executive Director of the MBCIA, Adams is the single point of contact for all new business locations and industry expansions in Macon-Bibb County. He has worked on a number of projects that involved companies locating and/or expanding their presence in the community, which represented nearly $1.4 billion in new investment and over 3,000 new jobs in Macon-Bibb County.

Notable businesses recruited to Macon-Bibb County during Stephen’s tenure at the MBCIA thus far include: Tractor Supply Company, Kumho Tire, Aspen Products, Pactiv LLC, Mr. Chips, Freudenberg, and First Quality. During 2017 alone, Adams helped facilitate deals that assisted Tyson Foods and Graphic Packaging International expand their existing operations, while also attracting new businesses such as Irving Consumer Products, Star Snacks, and

The MWA partners with the MBCIA to retain and attract industry to Macon-Bibb County, with MWA Chairman Sam Hart, MWA Board Member Dwight Jones, and MWA President and Executive Director Tony Rojas all serving on the MBCIA Board. In addition, the MWA invests $704,000 annually for the development of “ready to go” industrial sites.
