MWA Temporarily Closes Drive-Thru Window

Apr 5, 2020 by Chris Wood, Ph.D.

The MWA has temporarily closed its drive-thru window at the Albert Billingslea Headquarters Building in response to the state Shelter-In-Place Orders.

Pursuant to Gov. Brian Kemp’s Shelter-In-Place Orders, which went into effect Friday evening April 3, the Macon Water Authority (MWA) is closing its customer service drive-thru window at the Albert Billingslea Headquarters Building, effective Monday, April 6, and at least through Monday, April 13.

Should Gov. Kemp extend the Shelter-In-Place restrictions, and renew the state public health emergency declaration, the MWA drive-thru window likewise may be closed past April 13.

The Authority’s decision to close its drive-thru window complies with the intent of the state’s Shelter-In-Place Orders, designed to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Unless conducting essential business or services, traveling to and from work, or taking part in activities exempt from the restrictions, citizens are asked to shelter in place, or stay at home.

Georgians are allowed to leave home only to buy groceries, purchase medical equipment, exercise outdoors, attend doctor’s appointments, or travel for work to businesses that are in compliance with the office restrictions outlined in the policy.

Even with the MWA drive-thru window temporarily closed, Authority customers have other means for paying their water/sewer bill. And although the MWA has suspended service disconnections for those who are either delinquent with or not able to make their payment, Authority customers are encouraged to keep their accounts current.

The MWA offers customers options that include paying their monthly bill by mail, via auto draft, online through the MWA website portal, or by phone – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. MWA customers can make automated payments by phone using a credit/debit card or their checking account number when calling the Customer Care main line at 478-464-5600 (there could be longer wait times), or the Invoice Cloud, Toll-Free Number at 1-844-517-9741.
