Ninth Annual Kids Fishing Derby a tremendous success!

Jayson Elliott holds his Biggest Catch of the Day, an 8 pound 4 ounce catfish, during the 2014 MWA Kids Fishing Derby, held at the Authority's Javors Lucas Lake.

Congratulations to Jayson Elliott for reeling in the Biggest Catch of the Day during the 2014 MWA Kids Fishing Derby. The 9th annual event welcomed 363 participants plus accompanying adults for a free day of fishing at Javors Lucas Lake.

A complete list of all age group winners, sponsors, and volunteers is provided below. Sponsors and volunteers, especially, helped to make this year’s event one of the most successful in the nine-year history of the MWA Kids Fishing Derby.

Fishing Season Resumes Sept. 5, 2014
A reminder for local anglers — Javors Lucas Lake will be closed for fishing during the months of July and August, but will re-open on Friday, September 5th, when the 2014 MWA public fishing season resumes.
