Stormwater Pollution Prevention
10 Things You Can Do to Prevent Stormwater Runoff Pollution:
1. Use fertilizers sparingly and sweep/clean driveways, sidewalks, and gutters.
2. Do not blow leaves or yard debris down a storm drain
3. Never dump anything in streams, drainage ditches, or storm drains.
4. Vegetate bare spots in your yard.
5. Compost your yard waste.
6. Use least toxic pesticides, follow labels, and learn how to prevent pest problems.
7. Direct downspouts away from paved surfaces; consider a rain garden to capture runoff.
8. Take your car to the car wash instead of washing it in the driveway.
9. Check your car for leaks and recycle your motor oil.
10. Pick up after your pet.
11. Have your septic tank pumped and system inspected regularly.
12. If you see trash in your neighborhood, please pick it up and properly dispose of it.
13. Keep trash can lids securely sealed.
