Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.
Job Summary:
Determine the impact of Sales and Operating Expenses on Macon Water Authority residential & non-residential revenues, including creating forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans. Calculate financial projections and analyze monthly performance towards meeting revenue budgets/forecasts, focusing on revenue and expense drivers: rates, adjustments, customer volumes, and service mix (water & sewer). Acts as the organization’s FP&A area head, including budget analyst, developer, and liaison with the department heads.
Responsibilities:
Synthesizes large data sets to develop and enhance financial models and reports
Prepares forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans to project revenues
Conducts financial analysis against budget/forecast and identifies/communicates emerging financial trends to
both departmental and financial leadership
Calculates the impact of rate initiatives on revenues to ensure alignment with financial and operational
goals
Partners with department heads to provide forecast tools and reporting to manage revenues, expenses, and
capital spending
Partners with managers and analysts in other departments to develop assumptions used in financial models
Responsible for three entities’ budget development
Works on long-range plans, budgets, forecasts, and proformas development
Key responsibility in rate analysis, recommending rate structures and setting
Responsible for analyzing key performance indicators and making recommendations
Uses complex financial modeling to help set the organizational financial strategy
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience required in a related field (i.e., Finance, Accounting, or Business); 3+ years of
experience required if the candidate possesses a related advanced degree.
Advanced financial modeling skills, preferably with experience in modeling revenue & expenses in a utility
business
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor’s degree in finance or another related field
Experience in Microsoft Excel and Access
GA Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, or balancing
Ability to lift to waist level, pull, and push up to 40 pounds.
Use hands for simple grasping, writing, drawing, and operating office equipment.
