Macon Water Authority Geographical Information System (GIS)
The Macon Water Authority maintains and operates a Geographical Information System (GIS) as a function of the Engineering Department.
The Authority’s GIS is a digital database of the MWA’s assets, including water and sanitary sewer infrastructure. Additionally, GIS maintains all as-built information for projects and digital maps of Macon-Bibb County.
GIS Map Request
MWA Customers or contractors may request GIS maps for particular areas/locations using the MWA GIS Map Request Portal GIS staff will produce maps in PDF format including location information for MWA assets and other map data as requested. GIS staff will strive to send maps to the email provided within 3 business days
How is GIS Data Shared?
GIS data is shared with the Macon-Bibb County government agencies to:
- Assist the fire department by providing maps of fire hydrant locations. This helps to lower their response time.
- Assist contractors when road, storm drain, or other repairs are required. This limits damage to MWA assets.
