Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.
Job Summary:
The Report Writer Data Analyst is accountable for defining, developing, documenting, and supporting standardized or customized reports, queries, and portal lists. Duties of a Report Writer Data Analyst include examining and evaluating the purpose and content of business reports to develop new or improve existing format, use, and control. Reviewing reports to determine essential characteristics, such as origin and report flow, format, frequency, distribution, and purpose or function of the report, the Report Writer Data Analyst, serves as a liaison between end-users and the software provider.
Responsibilities:
? Define and document system scope, current logical view, general technical requirements, and proposed logical view using structure design and analysis techniques.
? Perform statistical analysis of data
? Maintain data integrity but fixing errors and removing corrupted data
? Using data mining to extract information from various datasets and identify correlations and patterns
? Use tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats such as diagrams and graphs
? Provide quality assurance of imported data and work with staff concerning data integrity
? Design and optimize test plans for unit, integration, and user acceptance test and document test plan and results.
? Develop a good understanding of functional applications and assist end-users with problem resolution, training, and general functional support.
? Develop a working knowledge of the applications’ data structures.
? Expertise in delivery technologies and data access, including familiarity with metadata, data organization, data quality assessment, and data profiling
? Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources
? Develop proficiency in the use of reporting and query toolsets.
? Ability to edit existing or create new reports, queries, and portal statistics
? Familiarity with accounting and finance practices and principles
? Ability to independently, resourcefully, and creatively research and implement new solutions.
? Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
? Oversee installation of software releases.
? Train users to use updated program functionality and provide ongoing technical assistance to users.
? Conduct full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities, and design.
? Create and maintain User Documentation.
? Monitor system performance of applications.
? Maintain confidentiality about the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
? Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisors.
? Assist personnel from other departments with any related technical matters, if required
? This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues quickly and accurately to maintain an established service level of our core technologies.
Qualifications:
Education, Certifications, and Experience
? Minimum of an associate degree in Information Technology or a related field of study from an accredited college or university. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, and four years of increasingly responsible application management experience
? Knowledge of a variety of software programs essential to MWA functions, including the MS Office suite of office productivity programs
? Clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
? Working knowledge of relational database architecture and Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL XML
? Java script and shell scripting desired
? Working knowledge of Cognos and Crystal reporting and query tools and reports
? Ability to express and exchange oral and written ideas effectively
? Ability to gather information quickly and accurately diagnose problems.
? Ability to analyze data information.
? Ability to maintain confidentiality.
