Macon Water Authority (MWA) Receives Excellent Score on GA Soil & Water Conservation Commission and EPD LIA Program Audit

Macon, GA – May 17, 2024 – The Macon Water Authority (MWA) is pleased to announce that the Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) has conducted an audit of our Local Issuing Authority (LIA) program on May 9 and 10, 2024. We are thrilled to report an exceptional score of 539 out of a possible 600 points, placing us in the “Excellent” category.
The GSWCC plays a vital role in protecting, conserving, and improving Georgia’s soil and water resources. As a certified LIA by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division (EPD), MWA regulates, approves, monitors, inspects, and enforces soil erosion and sedimentation control regulations within Macon-Bibb County.
This outstanding score reflects our Engineering Department staff’s dedication and hard work. Their commitment to high standards and proper management of our local water resources has been recognized and rewarded.
MWA takes great pride in its role as the LIA for Macon-Bibb County. We are committed to delivering superior service and upholding the highest standards of environmental stewardship.
