The Fall Conference of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) held recently in Athens featured industry awards for the top water and sewer systems in the state.
The MWA brought home three awards, highlighted by the GAWP (Sewer) Collection System and Water Distribution System Platinum Awards. In addition, Mickie Sanders, MWA Training & Development Officer, was inducted into the Golden Manhole Society.
The Water Distribution System and Collection System Awards recognize excellence in the management, operation, and maintenance of a utility’s respective water and sewer systems. To achieve a Platinum Award, a utility must achieve a score of 95% or higher on the system’s evaluation by fellow water professionals for at least five consecutive years.
The MWA Water Distribution System has achieved this highest grade for seven consecutive years, while the Authority’s Collection System has reached this level of achievement for 13 consecutive years.
The Golden Manhole Society recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of collection system operations through the operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or certification of collection systems, as well as service to GAWP and the Water Environment Federation (WEF).
