MWA Sewer & Conveyance Department Inspires Students at Career Day
Company News
The Macon Water Authority’s Sewer & Conveyance Department made a lasting impression at John R. Lewis Elementary School during their Career Day on March 21. Representing the MWA with professionalism and pride, three members of the department—Chris Monile (Supervisor), Eugene Bonner (Sewer Conveyance Tech II), and Terrance Bass (Sewer Conveyance Tech I)—spent the day engaging with students about the essential work they do behind the scenes to keep our community running.
The team gave students an inside look at the technology they use on a daily basis, including drones, underground cameras, and a state-of-the-art inspection truck. One of the most exciting parts of the visit was the tour of the truck, where students were able to see the equipment used to monitor and maintain the sewer system.

To spark even more curiosity, the team shared photos of unusual items found in the sewer system over the years. The students were full of questions and enthusiasm, showing genuine interest in learning how sewer systems work and how our employees help protect public health and the environment.
“Our goal was to show students that careers in water and wastewater management are not only important but also exciting and innovative,” said Rachad Hollis, Communications Specialist. “The students asked great questions and were really engaged. We hope experiences like this inspire them to consider future careers in public service and infrastructure.”
This visit highlights the MWA’s ongoing commitment to outreach, education, and community connection.
