The Macon Water Authority (MWA) has restored service to customers impacted this morning by a water main break at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Charlotte Street.
The Authority was notified of the 10-inch water main break around 8:00 a.m. this morning, with staff on site by 8:20 a.m. to assess the situation, and crews beginning repairs by 9:00 a.m. The water main was repaired, and service was restored by 2:00 p.m., within the 4- to 6-hour estimate the Authority provided customers in the impacted area.
The streets where customers were impacted while repairs were being made included those on Houston Avenue, Glendale Avenue, Troupe Street, and parts of Charlotte Street. Approximately 30 customers experienced a water service interruption during that time. All MWA customers within the impacted area have had their water restored.
However, should customers experience any air in their water lines or temporary discoloration, they can resolve these issues by letting their water run for a few minutes. Authority officials say there are no concerns for any impact on water quality now that service has been restored.
Any customers who have questions regarding the water main break, repairs, or restoration of their water service, can contact the MWA at 478-464-5600 during normal office hours, or 478-464-5656 after hours.
