Stormwater Midyear Report Card Shows Progress in Delivery of Services

MWA Stormwater Management continues to reach its goals, or Key Performance Indicators (KPI), while improving methods and becoming more efficient in day-to-day operations.
“We’re more proactive than reactive, and we’re reaching our performance goals, while providing great value in the stormwater services we offer to our customers,” says Marvin Land, MWA Director of Stormwater Management.
Some of the mid-year results of MWA stormwater management include:
• 459.95 curb miles swept
• 785.64 tons of debris removed because of street sweeping
• 52,087 feet of storm pipe cleaned
• 1,590 tons of debris removed from stormwater pipe
• 6.13 miles of ditching
• 49 cave-ins repaired
• 1,537 catch basins cleaned
• 84 catch basins replaced
• 2,655 work orders completed
(including citizen requests)
Since taking over stormwater management from Macon-Bibb County Government in January of 2021, the MWA stormwater utility has removed more than 19,506 tons of debris from our streets and stormwater system, improving local neighborhoods and protecting the water quality in the Ocmulgee River and surrounding water resources.
