MWA Design/Plan Review
Design and Construction Specs
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) requires that any development project that proposes to connect or discharge to any part of MWA’s public water and/or sewer system, a change in building footprint or floor plan, or an increase in wastewater usage, must be submitted for plan review. Commercial business applicants seeking permitted or conditional use approvals from the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission will also require MWA approval. All residential, commercial, and industrial development project site plans involving water and/or sewer must be reviewed by MWA officials and approved for construction under the supervision of a licensed registered Professional Engineer within the State of Georgia. A one-time fee of $125.00 in the form of money order or check made payable to the Macon Water Authority must accompany each plan review submittal.
The plan review process ensures that all proposed water and/or sewer system installations are held in strict accordance with acceptable provisions of recognized design references and standards. Preliminary reviews have a turn-around time of no more than seven days. Comments, corrections, and redline markups of site plans are issued back to the developer, owner, and/or design engineering firm within this review period. Final reviews have the same seven day turn-around time within which an approval letter, with any contingencies, and plans with stamps of approval are issued back to the developer, owner, and/or design engineering firm.
