The Macon Water Authority continually encourages its customers to practice wise water use. As evidence, the MWA was one of six pilot communities to begin participation, beginning in the spring of 2007, in the statewide "waterSmart" campaign – an educational program that teaches Georgians how to conserve water both indoors and outdoors, especially during the hot summer months.

One of the important guides to "water smart" is to water landscapes overnight or in the morning between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., to garner the most effective results and to reduce evaporation.

The MWA continues to remind its customers to: "Save Water, Save Time, Save Money, water smart."
