19th Annual Ocmulgee Alive! – Volunteer for Macon’s River Cleanup

The Macon Water Authority invites you to roll up your sleeves and make a difference in our community during the 19th Annual Ocmulgee Alive! river cleanup. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Ocmulgee Alive! is part of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s Rivers Alive program, a statewide initiative dedicated to keeping Georgia’s waterways clean and litter-free. Volunteers from across Bibb County will come together to remove trash and debris from the Ocmulgee River, helping to protect one of our community’s most valuable resources: our water.
Where to Meet
MWA volunteers will gather at the Spring Street Boat Ramp at 8:15 a.m. on event day.
How to Sign Up
- Register Online: Volunteer Registration Form
- Register by September 16 to secure your free event t-shirt.
- Complete the Medical Release & Safety Waiver:Download Here ( Medical Release Form for Participants)
What to Bring & Wear
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots
- Long pants and a hat for sun protection
- Gloves if you have them (a limited number will be provided)
- A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated

The Ocmulgee River is the source of water for Macon’s award-winning tap water. By participating, you’re not just picking up litter, you’re helping preserve water quality, protect wildlife, and keep our community beautiful for generations to come.
