MWA Approves Utility Agreement with GDOT for Anthony Road Roundabout Project
Company News
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) has approved a utility agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to support roadway improvements at SR 247/US 41 and Anthony Road in Bibb County.
As part of GDOT’s plan to install a new roundabout at the intersection, adjustments to MWA’s water and sewer facilities are necessary. The agreement outlines that MWA will reimburse GDOT for the work performed by its contractor, with a projected cost of $528,500.
Under the agreement, GDOT will oversee the utility adjustments in coordination with MWA, ensuring all work is completed according to approved plans and specifications. Once construction is finished, MWA will assume operation and maintenance of the adjusted facilities.
Why this matters
This project represents a key investment in both transportation safety and utility reliability. The new roundabout will improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents, while MWA’s utility adjustments will ensure customers continue receiving safe, reliable water and sewer service during and after construction.
