Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supervising the daily operation of the water treatment plant operators. Assists the Director in overseeing the operations of the Amerson “Town Creek” Water Treatment Facility.
Responsibilities:
Assumes all duties of MWA Director in their absence.
Coordinates work schedule and fills in on all shifts as necessary.
Oversee plant operators and plant scheduling.
Coordinate with HR on job postings and interviews.
Responsible for AWTP quarterly evaluations.
Assisting MWA Director of Water Operating in preparing annual and 5-year CIP.
Responsible for coordinating with maintenance Assistant Manager with MWA work orders.
Reviews laboratory records to ensure operations are following state and federal regulations.
Responsible for overseeing AWTP Risk Management Plan.
Maintains proper levels for all chemical tanks and containers and changes pumps and tanks.
Maintains supplies and chemicals inventory.
Educates the public about water treatment through tours and open house events.
Performs inspections of plant operations.
Assist Plant Director in preparing monthly reports as required by the Authority and other regulatory
agencies.
Remains on call as required.
Collect and perform testing on distribution samples
Charged with overseeing all plant inspections and EDP dam reports
Responsible for managing safety and maintaining a safe work environment
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
An associate’s degree is preferred
Five to seven years of work experience in water treatment plant operations.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations concerning safe drinking water.
Current Class I Water Treatment license.
Reservoir experience preferred
Solid knowledge of water distribution systems.
A valid Georgia Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, and stooping
Ability to carry 25 pounds up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
Occasional sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
Ability to grasp and hold.
