Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive, and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.
Job Summary:
The role is responsible for operating motorized and heavy equipment with complex controls requiring a relatively high degree of skill and manipulative ability for maintenance and repair of Macon Water Authority facilities. They serve as a lead worker within the crew and as a supervisor in their absence.
Responsibilities:
Operates a variety of equipment used to repair, maintain, and clean facilities, grounds, and associated systems
Trains new employees in the operation and safety precautions necessary to operate equipment
Perform duties of Facilities Technicians while not operating equipment
Transports all the necessary supplies and equipment to the job locations
Maintains safety at the worksite; ensures that equipment is working properly and is safe to operate; assists in loading and unloading materials and equipment
On-call for emergencies
Routinely inspects machinery and services equipment as required
Acts as lead worker on assigned projects
Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
One year of experience operating heavy equipment
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License with a Class “A” CDL with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, stooping
Occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
Ability to carry 50 pounds or more
May occasionally require climbing and traveling over various terrains
Ability to grasp and hold
Environmental Working Conditions:
Exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures, rain, snow, heat, etc.
Exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles
Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather
Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)
Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights
Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar
