Sewer Conveyance Technician II

Salary: $21.87-$26.72
Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.
Job Summary:
This role performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of sewer lines and related equipment for the Authority’s wastewater collection system.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects and repairs sewer line breaks
- Test lines for infiltration and inflow
- Locates and inspects manholes
- Cleans sewer lines
- Performs routine maintenance and repair of sewer line vehicles and equipment
- Responds to service calls and checks sewer lines for blockage
- Operates a pipe saw, chain saw, air hammer (etc.)
- Prepares written documentation of work performed and material used
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisors
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience
- Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in the maintenance and repair of sewer lines
- Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor for extended periods, possibly under adverse weather or working conditions
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License with a Class B CDL and a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping
- Ability to carry 50 pounds or more.
- Occasional sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
- Occasional require climbing and may involve traveling over various terrain.
- Ability to grasp and hold.
Environmental Working Conditions:
- The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles.
- Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather.
- Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)
- Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights
- Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar
