Water Treatment Laboratory Analyst I

Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.

Job Summary:

Analysis of water treatment and water distribution samples under US EPA requirements. Assists Lab Supervisor in daily lab testing and collecting all distribution sampling, including 125 monthly bacteriological samples. This position will require you to possess a Water Laboratory Analyst license and a Water Treatment System Operator Class III certification.

Responsibilities:

§ Analyze water and environmental samples for chemical and bacteriological parameters as per EPA methods and Standard Methods.

§ Perform quality control procedures.

§ Enter data and create reports in the laboratory information management system.

§ Perform instrument calibrations and maintenance.

§ Collect 125 monthly water distribution bacteriological samples to be tested.

§ Collect and perform testing on all water distribution sampling such as THM’s. Nitrates, TOC’s, Suspended Solids, and all other State testings.

§ Fill in as an extra water plant operator in case of emergencies.

§ Perform water treatment analysis testing under the State EPD

§ Perform daily plant checks on all equipment.

§ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

§ An associates degree in the Sciences is preferred

§ Two years of experience are required.

§ High school graduate or equivalent.

§ Experience with computer programs such as Excel, Word, Access, and others.

§ Valid GA driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

§ Frequent walking, standing, stooping

§ Ability to carry to 25 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.

§ Occasional sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.

§ Ability to grasp and hold.
