Lower Poplar Street Water Reclamation Facility Earns Gold Award for Permit Compliance

The Macon Water Authority is proud to announce that the Lower Poplar Street Water Reclamation Facility has received the Gold Award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for achieving 100% permit compliance in 2024.

This prestigious recognition is awarded to facilities that demonstrate a full year of compliance with all National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements—an achievement that reflects exceptional operational performance, environmental stewardship, and regulatory excellence.

The Gold Award underscores the hard work and attention to detail of the Lower Poplar operations team, who manage the complex processes of wastewater treatment with professionalism and precision. Their efforts help protect the Ocmulgee River and ensure that our community’s wastewater is treated to the highest standards.

This recognition is part of a growing list of honors received by MWA in 2025, and it showcases our ongoing commitment to excellence in water and wastewater services.
