MWA Chairman to Hold Press Conference Following Recent Allegations

Macon, GA – Macon Water Authority (MWA) Chairman Gary Bechtel will hold a press conference on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 9:00 A.M. in the MWA Board Room at 790 Second Street in Macon.

In his statement, Chairman Bechtel said:

“Recently, a board member called a press conference and made certain allegations regarding the management of Macon Water Authority, and I want to make a public statement to the press in response.

I am calling this meeting because I anticipate at least a quorum of the board may attend, and I wanted to make certain no one accuses those authority members attending of conducting an illegal meeting. I am calling a special meeting of the board on Thursday, April 17, at 9:00 A.M in the MWA Board room to avoid any allegations of an improper meeting. I will not call for any vote. I will not engage in any board-related business discussions.”
