MACON, GA — The Macon Water Authority (MWA) has released its 2026 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), providing customers with important information about the quality of their drinking water and MWA’s continued commitment to public health, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The annual report includes water quality data collected from January 1 through December 31, 2025, confirming that MWA’s drinking water continues to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD).
The report outlines the testing, treatment, and monitoring processes used to ensure safe and reliable drinking water for more than 55,000 customers throughout the Macon Water Authority service area.
MWA is also continuing PFAS monitoring in accordance with Georgia EPD requirements. Recent laboratory results detected a few PFAS compounds at extremely low parts-per-trillion levels, all below EPA’s proposed drinking water standards — comparable to just a few drops of water in an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
“The Macon Water Authority remains committed to transparency, regulatory compliance, and providing high-quality drinking water to our community,” said MWA Chairman Gary Bechtel. “Our continued monitoring and testing efforts help ensure customers remain informed and confident in the quality of their water.”
Highlights from the 2026 Consumer Confidence Report include:
- Continued compliance with all drinking water regulations during 2025
- Information about water treatment and monitoring processes
- Lead and copper sampling information
- Source water and system infrastructure information
- Recognition received by MWA from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals for operational excellence
