Calder Clay Has Been Officially Sworn In As The Newest Board Member Representing District 1 For The Macon Water Authority

[Macon, GA – 4/09/2024] – Calder Clay, Vice President of Sales and Operations at Southern Spine, LLC, was sworn in today as the District 1 representative for the Macon Water Authority (MWA) Board. The ceremony was at the Bibb County Courthouse, where Judge Sarah Harris administered the oath of office.
Clay’s appointment comes as he replaces Dr. Anissa Jones, former Vice Chair of the MWA Board, who served diligently in her role. With an exceptional track record in public service, Clay’s experience as a former City Councilman and Bibb Commissioner has prepared him well for this new responsibility. He previously served on the Macon City Council from 1995-1999 and subsequently won a seat on the Bibb County Commission. Clay’s dedication to public service was also evident during his tenure as the County’s Macon Water Authority Board representative from 2000-2002.
Having graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Economics, Clay brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the MWA Board. Clay says, “his desire has always been to serve others in any way I can. It was an honor to be the Bibb County Commission representative to the MWA Board from 2000-2002. I learned a lot about the role the MWA serves in our community. This opportunity to assist MWA is something I look forward to.” said Clay.
With a forty-year career, Clay has achieved significant success as a Medical Device Sales and Management Executive. He has excelled as the Sales and Operations Manager for start-up medical device companies, overseeing crucial capital development projects. Clay’s proven track record as a medical sales representative, consistently meeting and exceeding forecast objectives, speaks to his exceptional skills in the field. Additionally, he has effectively managed regional sales forces within the medical device industry to achieve their respective company goals successfully.
Clay’s determination and commitment to public service have also been recognized on a broader scale. He was a two-time GOP Nominee for U.S. Congress, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his community.
Governor Brian Kemp acknowledged Clay’s talents and appointed him to serve on the esteemed Technical College System of Georgia State Board.
The Macon Water Authority is confident that Clay’s extensive experience, leadership qualities, and commitment to the betterment of the community will significantly benefit the MWA Board as they continue their crucial mission of providing reliable and safe water resources to the region.
