Planned Water Outage for 30-inch Water Main Tie-In on Bass Road
Company News
Macon, GA—As part of the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) ongoing infrastructure improvement project, the Macon Water Authority (MWA) will perform a critical tie-in of a 30-inch water main along Bass Road. This operation is scheduled for the night of January 15th, with an estimated completion time of 8-10 hours.
The planned tie-in is necessary to successfully integrate new infrastructure into the existing water distribution system. MWA crews, in partnership with Pyles Plumbing and other contractors, will work diligently to minimize disruption during the tie-in process. Key activities include turning off valves, depleting the main, and installing new components.
What Residents Should Know:
• Scheduled Outage Time: 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM (January 15th).
• Impacted Area: Approximately 15-meter services along Bass Road and nearby areas.
• Customer Notifications: MWA personnel will provide door-to-door notifications, and
updates will be posted on social media and the MWA website.
Preparations in Place:
• Pre-dug pits for access points at key locations, including Amerson property and south of St.
Croix Drive.
• Water distribution personnel will deliver cases of water to affected homes (5 cases per
home, plus additional reserves).
• Maintenance teams have verified the positioning of critical valves to ensure seamless
operations.
Traffic Impacts:
Temporary traffic control measures will be in place near excavation points, particularly at St. Croix Drive. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes during the tie-in period.
MWA remains committed to providing timely updates throughout the project to keep customers informed. We appreciate your patience as we complete this essential upgrade to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our water system.
